  • Today a coworker told me that Jimmy Johns will have $1 subs on Thursday April 21st from 11AM-3PM.  I looked up the details.  It is limited to 1 per person and for in-store purchases only.  Click Here for Jimmy Johns website to get more details.

  • Do you use the picnic/parking areas at Pactola, Sheridan Lake or any of the other smaller sites that charge you $3 to $4 per time? Today only, you can purchase the annual premium day use pass, which allows you into the lakes, for only $17 or the standard pass (no lakes) for $10.

If you can’t make it out the the Forest Service office on Hwy 16 today, the website also lists an address to mail a check if you get it postmarked today.

Great gift idea for your hiking, fishing, and boating friends!

  • Yesterday was my son’s birthday and we went to Pizza Ranch.  It’s his favorite place.  It was nice that his birthday fell on a Wednesday since kids eat free at Pizza Ranch on Wednesdays.  We happened to mention when we were paying for the buffet that it was our son’s birthday and they said they would sing him Happy Birthday🎤 And he would get a free birthday dessert he could take home.  image

What is your favorite birthday deal?  Never got one before?  Here is a list I came up with a while ago.  http://blackhillsbargainhunters.com/?p=125

I’m sure it needs updated.  If there is one you know has changed or one I need to add please let me know.

When we were at Pizza Ranch I noticed a sign that said veterans get 50% off for Veterans Day on November 13th.  That confused me since Veterans Day is the 11th.  I may have it wrong so be sure to check.  I also saw in the Family Thrift ad that they are offering a military discount on November 11th along with a ceremony and treats.  Do you know of any other Veterans Day related deals or events?  I will try to make a list if I learn about more.

Look what I got for $3 each.  They are normally $9.99 each.  With the new Fresh Cut station open at the Rapid City West Side Safeway they are putting similar items they used to carry on extreme clearance.  The fruit trays were all gone and the veggie trays were going fast but they still had quite a few bags of cut apples, fruit cups, and some pico de gallo.  They are located in a lone cooler between the checkouts and the floral department.  They won’t last much longer.

I was walking through the Safeway parking lot and saw this weird red thing mounted on top of a car.  I was curious so I had to get a closer look.  It was the Google Street View camera car.  I’m sure they have a much cooler name for it.  I haven’t been carrying a camera with me much lately but just happened to have one in my pocket so of course I had to get a picture.  This isn’t something I see every day.

  • On Friday October 30th IHOP is offering a free Scary Face Pancake to kids 12 years and younger from 7am until 10pm.  It comes with strawberries, whipped topping, candy corn, and mini Oreos.  Dine in only.  The email I received says nothing about requiring an adult entree purchase.

  • If you have been in the Rapid City West Side Safeway lately you have probably noticed that it is going through some changes.  One of the changes is a new Fresh Cut Produce department.  To showcase this new department and the other changes they are having an open house on Saturday November 7th.  There will be free samples and possibly other surprises.

Today I bought this 3lb package of Farmer John Wieners for $1.50.  The original price is $6.  At the West Side Safeway there is a coupon dispenser for $1.50/1 Farmer John products near the bacon.  Yesterday there were some Farmer John sausage links that were overstock clearance from $1.99 to $.99.  Because of the way the computers are set up you could only use 2 coupons per 3 pkgs of sausage because it won’t let you use more in coupons that the product is worth.  Unfortunately the shelves were cleared before I could get any but today they had the Farmer John wieners marked for overstock clearance.  The original price was $6 and they were half price which made them $3 and the coupon made them $1.50.  I am not sure how long the wieners will remain on the shelf but keep your eyes out for blue tags in the bacon and sausage section because the coupon works for several different Farmer John products and you never know when there will be a sale or overstock clearance.  These wieners expire November 1st but I usually freeze them to extend the time I have to eat them.

I would also like to mention that I’ve seen a lot of peelie coupons in the cracker and cookie aisle.  Most of them are Nabisco.

  • I was shopping at the Rapid City West Side Safeway today and of course I always check out the clearance sections.  As usual I found some great deals on things I could use.  One of the things I spotted were some Wasa Flax Seed crackers.  I had never tried them before but there is another brand of flax seed crackers I really like so I thought they’d be worth a try at half price so I grabbed a package of them.  I was only there to get a few things.  Noosa yogurt (my favorite indulgence) had popped up on my personal Just 4 U deals, there was a deal for some FREE cookies on my Just 4 U, Pop Tarts were $1.49  with a store coupon plus I had a manufacturer coupon for $1/3, and 4pks of Angel Soft toilet paper were $.99 and I had a coupon that doubled to $.90 so I only paid ten cents.  Somehow with those few things on my list I ended up with a cart load.  Never Shop While You Are Hungry!  At checkout a catalina coupon printed for Wasa crackers.  I could get $1.50 off 2.  I couldn’t help but go back to the clearance and get 2 more.  That time a coupon printed for $2 off 3 of them.  So I went back again and got 3 and another $2 off 3 coupon printed.  I went back and got 3 more.  Another coupon for $2 off 3 printed again but there were only 2 packages left so I left them for someone else.  I figured 9 packages (and 4 trips through the checkout) was pretty good for something I hadn’t yet tried although others had told me how good they were.  The original price per package was $3.39.  They were on sale for $2.50.  The 50% off stickers made them $1.25 each.  I used $5.50 worth of catalina coupons.  I ended up paying $5.75 plus tax for 9 packages which comes to about $.64 each.  I tried some when I got home and everyone loved them plus I gave a package to a good friend that really loves them so I’m glad I went back.  My question to you is, would you or have you ever done something similar?  This was a little out of character for me.  I don’t typically clear shelves because of a good deal.  I only have so much room to store things but my husband has been wanting something to snack on at work so I’m pretty sure these won’t be around long.
